Verandah Silver Frame

Aluminium drawn into a segmented profile, complete with the small raised nodes where one length of cane would meet the next. It is a motif with a long history in decorative metalwork, from Regency conservatories to mid-century Palm Beach, and it works because the eye reads it as growth rather than geometry. The finish is properly bright, closer to silver than to steel, and because it is aluminium the whole thing stays light in the hand. Easy to move around, easy to live with. Works standing on a bedside table, and equally at home in a group of mismatched frames where its shape gives the eye somewhere to rest.
