A photo frame with a wide border of open cane weave set into a plain wooden surround.
The weave is a fine square lattice, pale and slightly uneven where it was worked by hand, and it casts a shadow onto the mount behind it. The outer edge is left clean so the frame stops rather than trails off.
It stands on a shelf or a chest of drawers and reads warmer than glass and metal do. It works best with a photograph that has some air in it, a landscape or a distance, rather than a tightly cropped portrait.
