A low disc of violet-veined stone, made to hold a single taper candle.
The stone is pale, threaded with plum and violet veining that runs differently through every piece, and each one is made by hand. Ten centimetres across and four high, it sits low among the plates without getting in the way, and it takes a stick of incense as readily as a candle.
It earns its place on a dining table that stays set between meals, or on a mantelpiece where the candle is lit more for the light than for the occasion. Pair it with a second at the far end of the table.
