A quilted grid worked across the face, each intersection pulled down with a small star stitch so the panels between them puff up softly. The tension along the seams draws the edges into a gentle scallop. The cushion has no straight sides at all, which is what stops a quilted piece looking like a mattress. In pale grey with darker thread the stitching reads as a fine drawn line. It sits at the small of the back on a sofa, or across the head of a bed.
