A face rendered as a broken fragment - half a profile, an open eye socket, a hand raised to the lips - cast in resin with a heavily worked, corroded surface and set on a plain black plinth. The finish is the reason it works: gold that has been abraded back to dark in the hollows, so the piece reads as excavated rather than manufactured. Three gestures were made: one hushing, one covering the eyes, one covering the ears. Bought as a set of three on a shelf they land harder than any of them alone.
