A shallow wooden tray with a low upstand and a wide flat base, cut square at the corners.
The timber is warm mid-brown with the grain running the length of the tray, and the rim is kept low so that what sits on it stays the point. The base is left broad enough to take a teapot and two cups without crowding.
It carries breakfast, tea, or a set of glasses from one room to another, and looks right left out on a counter between uses. It comes in several sizes, and a small one used as a catchall on a sideboard is as useful as a large one in the kitchen.
