Not a fitted slipcover but a single wide length of washed linen, thrown over the sofa and left to fall where it will. The cloth is yarn-dyed and woven at 160gsm, heavy enough to hold a fold and light enough to shift when someone sits down. It softens with every wash, gathering the creased, lived-in surface that linen only earns with time. Pull it straight when there is company; leave it rumpled the rest of the week. It takes the arms, the back and a good stretch of floor beneath, which makes it the quickest way to change a room without changing a single piece of furniture.
