A pair of stone bookends cut as arches, one tall and one low, each with the opening carved right through.
The two are deliberately unequal, so a shelf of books runs from high to low instead of sitting between matching brackets. The stone is pale and open-pored, and the arch is squared at the shoulders rather than rounded, which keeps the shape architectural rather than decorative.
They are heavy enough to hold a full run of hardbacks. Use them on a shelf, on a desk, or on a sideboard with three or four books between them and nothing else.
