A round stone dish raised on a short, solid column.
The proportions are deliberately stout, a wide shallow bowl on a base almost as broad as it is tall, which is what stops it looking like a cake stand. Both parts are cut from the same stone and left unpolished, so the pitting reads continuously from base to rim.
Lifting things off the surface is a small trick that makes them look considered: a bottle of scent, a folded chain, a single candle. Use it on a dressing table or a bathroom counter where the clutter needs a hierarchy. No two pieces are alike... tone and veining will vary, and cannot be chosen in advance.
