A rounded cushion of travertine hung from a slim turned stem in pale timber. The stone is left open-pored, so the surface reads as something quarried rather than manufactured, and the light escapes only from a disc set into the underside, giving a clean pool below while the body itself glows faintly at the edges. Hung over a bedside table it lights the page and nothing else. The pairing of warm stone against light wood is doing the quiet work here: it belongs in a room where the walls are plaster and the bed is linen.
