The same idea as a marble clock, worked in yellow travertine instead: warmer, more porous, and altogether more rustic. The face is left raw-cut so the open pores read across the surface, and backlighting turns them into a scatter of small dark points against amber. It keeps time quietly and lights a wall at the same time. In the larger size it holds a whole chimney breast on its own; in the smaller it works in a hallway where a picture would feel like too much.
