A small sphere of stone, hollowed and lit, hanging on a plain black flex. Because the stone is solid rather than glass, the light does not pass evenly. It pools in the pale patches and stops dead at the dark veining, so the globe glows in uneven islands of amber against near-black. Twelve centimetres across, which is small enough to hang two or three in a row beside a bed without crowding the wall. Natural stone is irregular, so every globe is figured a little differently.
