A three-panel dressing mirror in antiqued gold, the frame worked as a twisted rope and crowned with a sculpted bow at the centre. The side panels are hinged, so they swing forward to catch a profile. That is the reason trifold mirrors existed in the first place, and still the most useful thing about them. It measures just under three-quarters of a metre wide when open. It is unashamedly romantic, and it needs a surface that can carry it: a proper dressing table, a wide chest, something with enough depth that the wings have room to move. On marble, with scent bottles in front, it is exactly right.
