A cylindrical travertine jar with a flat lid that sits into a rebate rather than on top of it.
Travertine is a stone full of holes, and this piece makes no attempt to hide them: the pitting runs across the body and over the lid in bands. Each jar is cut from a different part of the stone, so some read almost cream and others carry rust-coloured pockets. It stands roughly 11.5cm tall and 9cm across.
Use it in a bathroom for cotton pads, on a desk for paper clips, or on a shelf holding nothing in particular. A pair of them, one slightly apart from the other, is better than one.
