A disc of marble cantilevered off a flat black bracket, with a downlight set into its underside: half wall light, half shelf. The stone catches the beam on its own upper face, so the disc reads as lit rather than simply pale, and there is enough surface to take a watch, a pair of glasses, a glass of water. A pull chain hangs from the bracket, which is a deliberate piece of honesty: no app, no wall plate, just a chain. Beside a bed it removes the need for a bedside table altogether.
