Leather cut into narrow strips and woven by hand into a close herringbone, then set into a metal surround with a flannel-backed panel behind. The weave is tight and regular, and the leather is left in a warm oat tone that shifts towards grey in low light. It sits easily alongside linen, pale oak and unglazed ceramic. The metal edge gives it enough structure for a formal room; the leather keeps it from feeling cold. Good on a bedroom chest among books and a small lamp, or leaning at the back of a dressing table.
