Onyx cut into a rounded cushion and lit from the inside, which is the only way to see what this stone actually does. Backlit, the body turns the colour of dark honey and the veining runs through it in smoky bands, warm where the stone is thin and almost black where it thickens. A slim gunmetal stem holds it. The light escapes downward through a disc set into the base, so you get a defined pool below and a soft amber glow from the shade itself, enough to sit beside a bed as the only light in the room.
