A wide wooden frame faced in gold and worked all over with a close hammered texture: thousands of small dimples, each one holding a point of light. The result is warm and matte rather than shiny, closer to beaten brass than to gilding, and it hides fingerprints in a way polished metal never does. The width is generous, and it comes with a white mount that pushes the photograph back and gives it air. Substantial enough to stand alone on a console. Good against a dark wall, where the gold does the lifting.
