Polished metal with a scrolling leaf motif worked into each corner and a fine bead running around the aperture. The ornament is kept to the corners rather than spread over the whole face, which is what makes it work: the flat expanses between stay bright and reflective, and the eye is given somewhere to settle. A traditional shape, handled with restraint. Available across a good range of sizes, which makes it a sensible choice for building a group on a chest or a piano lid, using the same frame at different scales for one coherent arrangement.
