A round wooden tray with a raised rim, carved along the outer edge with a run of small beads.
The timber is pale and dry-finished rather than lacquered, so the grain stays open and the colour reads chalky rather than glossy. The beading is the only decoration, and it runs unbroken all the way round, which is what gives an otherwise plain circle its character.
It gathers things rather than carries them: a candle and a small vase on a coffee table, cups and a pot on a kitchen counter, or a cluster of jars on a dresser.
