A pair of brutalist Travertine stone blocks, each one a solid right angle with nothing added.
The form is exactly what the job requires and no more: a flat foot that slides under the books, and an upright that takes their weight. The stone is pale and open-pored, cut square on every face, and the two pieces are near-identical rather than perfectly matched.
They are substantial, because this is stone doing structural work rather than a decorative object with a shelf life. Use them on an open shelf or a long sideboard, where the mass of them reads against the paper.
(Being cut from natural stone, each piece carries its own character. Variations in pitting, colour intensity and veining occur naturally and cannot be chosen.)
