Porcelain modelled to look like woven cane: a plaited rim, a body of raised basket-stitch, and a band of open piercing below the lip where the weave appears to lift away from itself. It is a very old trick in ceramics and still a good one: the eye reads soft, the hand finds hard. The pale celadon wash pools in the recesses and leaves the raised work almost white. Comes with its own saucer and a slim porcelain spoon.
