A properly ornate wall mirror: scrolling acanthus, small sculpted roses and a raised shell crest at the top, moulded in polyurethane and finished by hand so the high points catch the light and the recesses stay dark. Resistant to water and shower steam. The silhouette is asymmetric in the old manner, wider at the crown and drawn in at the waist, which stops it from looking like a reproduction of anything in particular. Polyurethane is the sensible choice for a frame this elaborate: it holds fine detail, and it does not mind damp air. At just over three-quarters of a metre tall it holds a wall on its own. Hang it above a basin, or over a hall console.
