A photo frame built from weathered timber, joined at the corners with visible tenons rather than glue and pins.
The grain is deep and open, split and scarred in places, and left that way on purpose. The surface has already had a life before it became a frame. The joinery is the only ornament, and it is structural.
It sits upright on a desk, a shelf or a windowsill, and holds its own next to plainer things. Group two or three at different heights rather than lining them up, because the irregular grain does better with company.
